About the event

Presence is the guiding force that brings us into the FLOW and shapes our moment by moment experience in contact improvisation and in Life.   We tether our awareness to the sensations happening within our body and that show up when we are in contact with another.  It is through deep listening to these sensations and allowing them to lead the way, that we can dissolve the old partner dancing roles. When we let go of any agenda, and allow our sense of oneness to be the lead, the follow and the ALL....we have an experience of Being Danced.   We will investigate what it is to be an artist of Contact Improvisation as well as a technician...aka:  someone who embodies the mechanics of weight sharing.

Join Shannon Sahaja for a delightful day of discovering more of your embodied genius.

Shannon is an embodiment alchemist with 2 decades of teaching in the improvisational arts.  She found a deep love and respect for the art and technique of Contact Improvisation through her studies with Kathleen Hermesdorf and Nancy Stark Smith. Shannon loves articulating the mechanics of weight sharing for those unfamiliar with the form and brings delight to the space with her unique ability to create safety while spicing things up with humor and spontaneity. She holds a BFA in Dance from S.U.N.Y Purchase, and has been practicing Contact Improvisation and Yoga for 2 decades, and has had good fortune to have studied extensively with many of the most influential practitioners of CI.
